At this time there is a lot of confusion and uncertainty surrounding the “coronavirus” incident. Various sources are providing contradictory information, and in many cases downright misinformation or disinformation. Even “official” sources do not agree with each other. However there have been major activities at many levels, from individual cities and organizations up to entire nations. Because of this, for the moment the FGMC policies will be as follows:
1) If any or all of the local Winston-Salem/Forsyth County area is put under official quarantine then any meetings and other activities during that time will be automatically cancelled. In addition, the meetings may be cancelled for other reasons related to this. Depending on timing if a cancellation occurs then an effort will be made to get out an email notification and put the notice on the club web page.
2) If any area that a field trip is planned for is put under official quarantine then the field trip is automatically cancelled. Again, efforts will be made to notify members by email and the web site, but members may need to watch out for news from those areas.
3) If you have any of the symptoms of the virus, such as coughing, sneezing, low-grade fever or higher, or any of the other symptoms identified by any of the medical agencies we ask that you stay home. Even if you know for sure that the symptoms are from something else, there is no point having other members concerned or nervous from observing your symptoms. NOTE: Allergy season for some people seems to be starting early and allergy symptoms may be similar to Covid, so if you have any of these, please stay home.
4) If you are at all concerned about the possibility of catching this by attending meetings and/or other activities, then feel free to skip them until you are comfortable in resuming such. Hopefully this whole situation will pass quickly and we can all get back to normal activities.
